Dave is a Kentish man
by birth. Dave's early adventure in broadcasting was with North
Sea "pirate" Radio Caroline. Back on dry land, Dave worked as
a DJ in the Irish Republic where he got a job with ABC Radio in
County Waterford. Then it was over to the Cote D'Azur for Riviera
Radio, and back to the UK for Radio Wyvern. More recently he worked
for KFM in Tonbridge as a Breakfast Presenter. In between presenting
shows for EKR he works for the British Forces Broadcasting Service
presenting the station's "Gold" output.

Bob started his working
life in the newspaper industry where he progressed to Production
Manager. But during this time, Bob's attention was really focussed
on radio and he spent hours listening in to his favourite broadcasters
and stations. As his interest matured he got involved with Kingston
Hospital Radio as a hobby where he became Station Manager for
five years. This led to meeting up with some of the land-based
pirates of the day where his hobby took him a stage further on
stations such as Radio Jackie. Inevitably, a period on the legendary
Radio Caroline followed. Bob had made a sufficient enough impression
in the pirate market to eventually attract a job offer of some
professional weekend programmes at Coast AM which was later to
become Invicta Supergold. From there he progressed to weekend
breakfast and ultimately a full-time job presenting the weekday
breakfast show.

The rest is history -
Bob stayed with the Invicta Group for a total of eight years where
he saw three changes of ownership, twelve Programme Controllers
and several dozen presenters come and go. European Klassik Rock
has been extremely fortunate to have been able to attract Bob
Mower as the Programme Controller of its presentation team. His
length and breadth of experience will assist European Klassik
Rock in forging a steady path into the future of broadcasting.

Nigel is another seasoned
radio professional. In fact, he went straight from school to work
on Radio Caroline and became a regular presenter right up to the
station's final broadcasts in the early 90s. In 1991, Nigel travelled
to Tel Aviv and became a presenter on the Voice of Peace for 6
months prior to returning to the UK to work for Invicta FM. He
broadcast on Kent's local commercial station for five years before
moving to Essex. Here he worked for the Essex Radio Group and
presented shows for a number of the Group's stations including
Essex FM, The Breeze and Oasis FM. Nigel joined European Klassik
Rock in the Spring of 1998.

Whilst working for French
Railways as a travel courier, Mark regularly made announcements
over tannoy systems. During this time one of the guards said,
"you're good at that - you should work for the BBC." This struck
Mark as a good idea and the next day he joined the local hospital
radio station to get some experience. The rest is history and
since that eventful day, Mark has spent 12 years working in the
radio business. He has been heard on numerous stations such as
Red Dragon FM, Chiltern Radio, Radio City, Radio Hallam and Virgin
Radio. Mark has been with European Klassik Rock since late Spring
1998 and is very enthusiastic about the music on the station.
"I've enjoyed working on radio ever since I started" he says,
"but I've never had the opportunity to play so much great music
before". Away from radio Mark is a seasoned traveller. He has
visited every country in Europe with the exceptions of Iceland,
Luxembourg, Turkey and Finland (which are still on the list).
Whilst music is Mark's main passion, he is also keen on comedy,
ice cream and Liverpool Football Club. His ambition is to read
his own obituary!

Mark Stafford's radio
career stretches back to the late 1970s. He started off in the
world of shortwave "free radio". During the 70s and 80s he was
the Station Manager of Atlanta Radio - recognised as one of Europe's
free radio stations. In 1982 Mark set up the International service
of Radio Boulogne. He has also worked for North East Community
Radio in Scotland and Invicta FM. Throughout the 1990s Mark has
been involved with numerous RSLs including East Kent Radio. He
now presents the 8pm to Midnight spot on European Klassik Rock
on a weekday evening and Sunday night. Mark is also the 'main
man' behind the great music you can hear on European Klassik Rock.
Modestly, Mark explains "well, I think it's because I had more
records than anyone else." Nobody would deny he certainly has
some good ones!

John is an Essex man and
he started off his working life as an accountant for a merchant
bank. However, much of his spare time was spent working for his
local hospital radio station. When the chance eventually came
to get in to professional radio he lost his tie and brolly in
favour of more casual attire as a DJ at Guildford's Delta Radio.
From here he has steadily carved himself a career at bigger and
bigger stations, first moving to Essex Radio and then London's
Heart 106.2. Now he is broadcasting to Europe on European Klassik
Rock. When not working "on-air", John can often be found supporting
his football team West Ham United - home of the San Siro of the
West End. Often he will be heard shouting for the "Irons" losing
his voice in the process. Fortunately, his dulcet tones always
manage to reappear in time for his radio programmes!

Even as a baby, His Most
Majestic Self was rocking, according to his parents Joe and Dorothy
Pastermak! Not long afterwards, he was yelling something resembling
Rock 'n' Roll, playing "pretend radio" when most kids were playing
with Sindy & Ken! By the age of 11 he'd graduated to school dances.
The Emp's future was sealed! He kicked off his UK career back
in the 60s on Radio Caroline, taken on board the 'Mi Amigo' off
the Essex coast by the boss himself, Ronan O'Rahilly.
|
|
The Emp rocked and rolled across the waves
and airwaves experiencing one of his most embarrassing moments
when his Minah bird Alfie swore explicitly live on air. Rosko
later found out that Alfie had received a little private coaching
from the Caroline team during his vacation! Within 1 year, "Le
President Rosko" was THE number 1 on French radio. Rosko's big
break came when he was approached by BBC Radio 1. British radio
had never heard anything like his "Midday Spin" before! In the
1970s Rosko was admired and copied by every up and coming DJ in
the land. "Rosko's Round Table" was the time to rock with The
Emp! In 1978 Rosko returned to LA to be with his father. Says
Rosko "Dad had Parkinson's Disease and was no longer working.
I wanted to be with him 'till the end. I had never been there
with him as a kid - he sent me to Europe for an education and
a career. It was a satisfying end for dad knowing I was around
him and Mum." Rosko has now started to rebuild his UK career from
sunny California, and is now once again heard all over the UK
and Europe. "VIVE LE PRESIDENT!"

Alton is another one of
European Klassik Rock's presenters who has done a spell on Radio
Caroline (it's compulsory isn't it). Following this spell at sea
in the mid 80s, Alton moved to Radio Top Shop in Oxford Circus
which he recalls as being one of the best jobs he has had as the
radio studios were situated just by the girls' changing rooms
- the mind boggles! Nonetheless, it seems that this attraction
was not enough and that the "sand and sea" elements were missing
because Alton next moved on to the Cote D'Azur during 1985 to
present on Riviera Radio. In October 1986, he was given the chance
to go and work for the mighty 208 Radio Luxembourg - a job which
he embraced with relish remaining there for 2 years. On returning
to England, he worked presented the afternoon show for Red Rose
Radio in Lancashire. However, the lure of the exotic world of
travel remained strong and 13 months later Alton got himself a
job with BFBS which enabled him to travel the world for free!
However, he did not always get sent to the best holiday destinations
and, for a while, found himself broadcasting to the Gulf during
the Gulf War. Alton started presenting part-time on European Klassik
Rock in October 1997 and during Spring 1998 became a full time
member of the team as permanent weekday Night Tracks presenter.
